Day 1 – Sun, 22 July 2018 Depart U.S (7/21), Arrival Israel
Upon arrival in Israel, we will transfer to our hotel in Tiberias. Dinner on own.
Day 2 – Mon, 23 July 2018
Highlights: Mt Of Beatitudes, Caesarea Phillipi, Bethsaida, Capernaum, Sea Of Galilee Boat Ride.
Our day today is spent all around the beautiful Sea of Galilee. We will visit the Mt. of Beatitudes where Jesus preached the Sermon on the Mount. Next stop is Banias (Caesarea Philippi), where Jesus asked His disciples an incredibly important question. We will see the ruins of Bethsaida before we enjoy a delicious St Peters fish lunch (included). Capernaum, Jesus' hometown during the majority of His ministry years, is our next port of call. Then, we enjoy a time of sailing in a boat on the Sea of Galilee before heading back to our hotel for dinner and overnight in Tiberias. (B-L-D)
Day 3 – Tue, 24 July 2018
Highlights: Mt. Precipe Nazareth, Drive By Cana, Tel Megiddo, Mt Carmel, Caesarea, Drive To Jerusalem.
In the morning, we will take a drive up to Mt. Precipice before we travel through Cana, the place of Jesus’ first miracle. We head on to Tel Megiddo one of King Solomon’s fortress cities and the scene of many battles, including the battle of Armageddon, which is our next stop. A short drive from there is Mt. Carmel where Elijah performed great exploits and where the Jezreel Valley is spread out before us like a patchwork quilt. Then we head down the coast to Caesarea Maritima, the site of Herod’s Palace, home of Cornelius, and where Paul was brought to trial; we will see a short presentation (if space and time is available) and stop briefly at the nearby ancient aqueduct, before we drive to our hotel in Jerusalem for dinner and overnight. Day 4 – Wed, 25 July 2018
Highlights: Mt Of Olives, Palm Sunday Road, Garden Of Gethsemane, Via Dolorosa, Pool Of Bethesda, Ecce Homo, Temple Mount, Western Wall, Southern Steps, Garden Tomb.
Today begins with a visit to the Mt. of Olives for a breathtaking view of the Holy City before beginning the descent down the Palm Sunday walk to the Gethsemane private garden where Jesus agonised in prayer just prior to His arrest. We will make our way by coach again to the Old City where we walk the Via Dolorosa before visiting the Pools of Bethesda where Jesus healed the crippled man. From there, it is only a short walk to Ecce Homo, where Pilate presented Jesus after His scourging. Then, we’ll visit the famous Western Wall (Wailing Wall) so sacred to Jews for the past 2000 years where they pray daily facing the site where the Temple (Holy of Holies) used to stand. Afterward to the Southern Steps that led into the Temple, we'll see the many mikvot (ritual baths) used by the Jews for cleansing & we'll sit on the very steps where Jesus taught. We will then proceed to the Garden Tomb to celebrate communion together. We will see that the Tomb is empty because He is risen indeed! Then we go back to our hotel in Jerusalem for dinner and overnight. (B-D)
Day 5 – Thu, 26 July 2018
Highlights: Masada, View Ein Gedi, Qumran, Dead Sea.
Today we will cover some incredible history, beginning with King Herod’s mountain fortress on Masada, and then we will view Ein Gedi, the oasis in the desert that was so important to King David and his men when hiding from King Saul. Next stop is Qumran, where the most important archaeological discoveries in modern history were found - the Dead Sea Scrolls. We close out our day at the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth. Floating in the salty water is an experience you cannot afford miss! Enjoy dinner and overnight at our hotel in Jerusalem. (B-D)
Day 6 – Fri, 27 July 2018
Highlights: Bethlehem, Shepherd’s Field, Israel Museum, View Of Knesset, Yad Vashem, Genesisland Dinner In Abrahams Tent.
After breakfast, we will leave Jerusalem for Bethlehem and get a stunning view of the Shepherds Fields before continuing to the Israel Museum to see the scale of model of Jerusalem of Jesus' days. We also see the famous Dead Sea Scrolls. Afterwards we will drive by the famous Menorah across from the Knesset, Israel’s Parliament. Then we will continue on to the Mt Herzl to visit Yad Vashem the Holocaust Museum, which is very sobering but incredibly important. There are a growing number of voices around the world denying the Holocaust ever happened and it is important we never, ever forget the truth. This evening, we have dinner at Genesisland where we get to sit down in a tent to have a traditional meal before we head back to the hotel in Jerusalem for overnight.
Day 7 – Sat, 28 July 2018 Highlights: Cross Border, Madaba, Mt Nebo, Amman.
This morning, we cross the border to Jordan to visit Madaba. During Islamic times, it was totally abandoned until re-occupied by Christian tribes from Kerak in 1880. Today it is a city & governate containing several Byzantine churches with beautiful mosaics. We continue to Mt Nebo, biblically known as Mountain of Abarim. Nebo & Pisgah are two of the peaks in this mountain range. Traditionally, the spot where Moses was buried after his spectacular view of the Promised Land. Next up, is Amman, the capital of the Ammonites in ancient times. Today, there are several nice ruins including the citadel hill covered in numerous ancient antiquities & the 6,000 seat Roman theatre below, both containing museums. Afterwards we come to our hotel for dinner and overnight. (B-D)
Day 8 – Sun, 29 July 2018 Highlight: Petra.
We have a full day of touring Petra ahead of us. From ancient times until the 13th century, it was a very prosperous place for caravan commerce and an important center for caravans on the Spice Route from Yemen, Persia and India. In the Islamic times, it dwindled until completely abandoned, then lost from the western world. John Lewis Burkhardt, a Swiss scholar, rediscovered it in 1812 while traveling from Aleppo to Cairo. The ruins visible today are one of the most unique cities in the world with its hand carved facades and monuments. This includes an entire Roman theatre chiseled out of the cliff. There are innumerable, massively carved structures with magnificent decorations. Also, the swirling colored sandstone is an amazing, natural wonder. Arriving back at out hotel in Amman, we have dinner before overnight. (B-D)
Day 9 – Mon, 30 July 2018 Highlights: Flight Jordan To Egypt, Memphis, Saqqara.
This morning after breakfast, we will transfer to the Amman airport for out flight to Egypt. Upon arrival at Cairo international airport, we are met and assisted through visa and customs procedures. Our first stop is Memphis, the very first capitol in the history of mankind. Next, we will explore Saqqara where we'll find the earliest attempt to build a pyramid. We travel through the largest city in Africa passing by modern and old Cairo districts to our hotel for dinner and overnight. (B-D)
Day 10 – Tue, 31 July 2018 Highlights: Phaile Temple, High Dam, Agha Khan.
After breakfast, we head again to the airport for our flight to the city of Aswan, where we board the Sonesta Moon Goddess for lunch. We will then continue to the temple of Phaile, the Isis Island that witnessed the story legend of Isis and Osiris. Then on to the High Dam, the largest man made lake and the Dam that saved Egypt from Famine and helped in generating electricity in the modern era of Egypt. Disembarking for a felucca ride around the Agha Khan along the lofty Nile is such a relaxing atmosphere...it is one of the most beautiful and energetic spots in the world. Day 11 – Wed, 01 Aug 2018 Highlights: Free Morning (ABU Simbel), Temple Of Kom Umbo.
After breakfast, we'll have a free morning where we can do an optional trip to Abu Simbel temples. We continue sailing on to Kom Umbo. Enjoy lunch and a visit to the temple dedicated to the two shared Gods, Sobek and Harories. When we get back to the boat, we'll sail to Edfu and have dinner and overnight on board our cruise ship. Day 12 – Thu, 02 Aug 2018 Highlights: Temple Of Edfu, Temple Of Luxor.
After breakfast, we travel to the most preserved temple, the temple of Edfu, by horse carriage. Then back to our ship and sailing to Luxor via Esna Lock. We'll have lunch and continue sailing. We visit the temples of Luxor by night, to see the ancient big complex illuminated is marvellous and adds to the solemnity and beauty of the place itself. Dinner and overnight on the cruise. (B-L-D)
Day 13 – Fri, 03 Aug 2018
Highlights: Temple Of Hatshepsut, Colossi Of Memnon, Valley Of The Kings, Temple Of Karnak.
This morning, we cross to the west bank where one third of the world monuments is located. The city is like an open museum. We will start with the beautiful intact Valley of the Kings, stroll to the temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el Bahari and pass by the 2 huge statues of Memnon. We'll lunch and cross back to the East bank to visit the complex of Karnak. Dinner and overnight on the cruise. (B-L-D)
Day 14 – Sat, 04 Aug 2018 Highlights: Flight To Cairo, Pyramids Of Giza And Sphinx .
After a good breakfast, we head back to the airport for our flight to Cairo. We'll visit the only still standing World Wonder, the Pyramids of Giza and the lion-shaped Sphinx. After this breath-taking trip, we'll stop by the Egyptian museum where the treasures of the boy-king Tut are displayed. Dinner and overnight at hotel. (B-D)
Day 15 – Sun, 05 Aug 2018 Depart For U.S.
After a good breakfast, we head back to the airport for our flight home. (B)
